Two New Amigurumi!

I have uploaded two new handmade hannah-chan amigurumi bears to my new online shop at Notonthehighstreet.com! The first one, here, is a handsome dark brown boy. He is very proud of his yellow and orange stripy sweater and his dark green trousers. The second one, here, is very pretty, paler brown and with a pink and raspberry top. I hope you enjoy them!

Hannah-chan Daytrip

On Sunday, I took a day trip to east Northamptonshire, about an hour from my home in Buckinghamshire. The countryside is really soft and lovely and villages like Fotheringhay and Apethorpe are so beautiful. I think if they were in the Cotswolds, they would all be much more famous than they are! A very tasty lunch was at The Shuckburgh Arms in Stoke Doyle, close to Oundle. Before then I took some pictures of the church and of the local scenery. What a great place to visit!

Amigurumi Brooches

Thank you to hannah-chan blog readers for all your suggestions! As you can see from the photo, I have been busy designing and making some special amigurumi brooches for my Folksy shop. At the moment there are three different designs for you to choose from: a cheerful green frog, a friendly brown bear and a pink bunny with a red ribbon around her ear! The amigurumi brooches all have lots of character and are perfect for decorating your clothes or your bag. You can find the frog here, the bear here and the bunny here.

Egg Cosy

Cath Kidston is now running a competition to make an egg cosy, so I thought it would be a good idea for hannah-chan to enter. However, I didn’t read the competition instructions properly… or, to be honest, I didn’t read the instructions at all… so I just made a kawaii (cute) egg cosy. But now I know that it can’t be entered in the competition! Ah well, at least a photo can go on to the blog. Would you like it to keep your egg warm on a Saturday morning?

Handmade Oxford

After the success of the Handmade Cambridge fair at the beginning of the month, it is now confirmed that I will definitely have a hannah-chan stall at Handmade Oxford. This event will be held at Oxford Town Hall on 29th November, from 11am until 5pm. Last year, the Oxford fair attracted about 1300 people, so I hope that it will be as busy again this time!

It is very interesting and fun to attend Handmade Craftfairs, to meet other sellers and to see what they are making. Also sometimes to buy from them, of course! I am planning to have on sale lots of interesting amigurumi at Handmade Oxford, so please put in your diary the date 29th November!

This Is What I Did!

A few days ago on this post, I asked visitors to the hannah-chan blog what I should do with a mini-amigurumi that I had designed and made. Some of you very kindly offered some suggestions! This made me think about the design and so I made some small changes before putting together a bear, a rabbit and a frog.

They are all brooches with proper pins attached to the back, although perhaps I will make some similar fridge magnets in the future, too. The new design means that, instead of looking down a little bit, they now sit flatter against your clothes or bag. I think they are very nice!

Three little brooches

I come from Japan, where we do not do very much home baking at all. Perhaps because of this, now that I live in England I am especially interested in baking. For example, I often make bread, but also sometimes cakes, pies, quiches and biscuits. I enjoy it very much.

Today I decided to make some maple syrup and pecan nut muffins. It was nice to eat them fresh with some coffee! The recipe came from Leith’s Baking Bible, which I think is a very good and interesting book. If anyone would like to know how to make these muffins, please make a comment and I will be happy to post the recipe here.

Fresh muffins

Well it is a tradition on a blog to include photos of your cat, so here he is for you to see! His name is Inari-kun and he is nearly five years old. “Inari” is a simple type of sushi which my husband likes very much. It is made from rice and fried tofu, so it is kind of ginger and white coloured. Unfortunately Inari-kun is quite a naughty cat!

Behind him in the photo, you can just see a little bit of his “sister”, Kurumi-chan. She is a black cat and it is quite difficult to take good pictures of her. “Kurumi” means walnut in English. She is much older than Inari-kun but is more adventurous.

New Blue Bear Amigurumi

If you visit the hannah-chan Folksy shop, you will see that there are now ten amigurumi in my stock. There are cats, rabbits, key rings, desk friends – and now, a new blue bear! She is very kawaii (cute) and wears a smart yellow, orange and white dress. Around her neck is a stylish orange bow. Two New Amigurumi

There are two new amigurumi for sale on the hannah-chan Folksy shop! First there is a dark chocolate-coloured napping cat. He is peaceful and calm. I think he spends a lot of his time asleep, but he also has a cheeky side and is interested in the internet.

The second amigurumi is in my new Stargazing series. She is a pink rabbit, who has a pretty pink flower on her head and a lively expression on her face. Both are designed and crocheted by me and both will make excellent desktop friends!

Lemon Meringue Pie

Well of course this is not a hannah-chan amigurumi, but over the Easter holiday weekend I made a lemon meringue pie. We ate some of it still warm from the oven, so that was the best time to enjoy it! I hope you like the picture of something different on the hannah-chan blog.
